I saw that you have dog Cavalier king charles spaniel.. I´m in love with this breed...and one day I´ll buy one of them..
I know a lot of this breed, but nowhere I did´t find how long(hours) this dog can be alone..? and what kind of toy you give you´r Chloe when she is alone...?
I´m soo sry because I disturb you..but I want that my future-dog will be happy with me
So sorry it has taken me months to respond. I honestly have not checked DA until now. I work 3 very long days and she is usually alone for around 11 to 12 hours. I do not recommend this however. In the past I used to have a break so I would leave her for 4 hours be with her an hour, then another 4 or 5. When I started the 11 hours Chloe went from being an angel while I was gone to pooping on my living room floor despite already having gone, and going through garbage cans I thought were well sealed. She no longer does this. She has gotten used to my schedule and it is only 3 days. But still I try to have someone come and walk her if I can while I am gone. She does a lot better if I give her a bone when I leave, though they are not supposed to be safe for dogs, cavaliers tend to be fine with them since they do not swallow them whole like other larger breeds. She has a basket full of toys but usually only plays with them when I am with her and able to play with her. She loves to play tug and catch. She played with her toys alone when she was a puppy until she was 3. She just turned 6 years old. They are wonderful dogs but incredibly expensive as they all tend to get heart conditions usually by age 8-10. I have been lucky Chloe has not had one. But my neighbors got a cavalier after seeing Chloe. They went about everything the right way and got from a reputable breeder. But they have had nothing but expensive problems and they don't have a lot of money.
Their dog, Pip, is a gorgeous Cavalier with Champion parents, and yet she is only a year and a half and have probably cost them about $10,000. She had to have surgery on both her back legs for severe luxating Patella's. She also has fly-catcher syndrome (constantly biting at none-existant flies) which is usually an indicator of a potentially fatal illness associated with cavaliers. Luckily after several trips to a neurologist the medication they put her on seems to be combating her fly-catching stuff, but it has been a very expensive journey.
I suppose this could happen with any breed, but Cavaliers are particularly prone to bad stuff especially if you get them in a pet store. Make sure you go to a very good breeder. I know 3 people who got cavaliers at pet stores and all three have heart problems before any of them turned 3 years old.
But don't let this deter you if you want one. I don't know of a nicer breed than a Cavalier. Mine helped me through the death of my Grandmother, her loss was exceptionally hard for me. I don't know what I would have done if I had not had Chloe.
THANK YOU for all! I appreciate that you take time to write me this long letter I was thinking and now I know that I will rescue one of puppies in dogs shelter.
I will be always in love with cavaliers...but when I see all this dogs eyes behind bars.My heart started to cry and I know inside me that I must save at least one of them.
Today I was in shelter..there was one dog(just like cocker spaniel) soooo tiny and he was shaking because of cold. Then I gave him a worm hug. And he started to lick my nose.. I was almost in tears.. ...
Thank you again! Give a BIIIIIIIG hug from me, to Chloe*
I LOVE that you are going to rescue a dog. So many need homes. I really wanted to rescue a Cavalier, there are cavalier rescues in my area, but you really need to be around nearly full time as many are traumatized and you need to have a lease that says your allowed to have dogs in your building. Even though my landlord allows Chloe, my lease says no dogs. So no such luck.
I really hope you get the dog you saw. Good luck with everything!

that is funny. My name is derived from my middle initial being E and my last name starting with Z. So Rach E. Z. essentially. And even funnier is that when I got Chloe her breeder who is also a Police Officer rescued a beagle mix she named Cleo. My parents adopted her, though they changed her name to Leta.
